Not much to do= not much to blog about!
I should just face it, there just isn't much thats fun to say about cleaning my room, working on my finances (definitely, definitely not anything fun about that), or the fact that I am trying desperately to finish My Sister's Keeper for the second time before the movie comes out this weekend.
One thing that has been on my mind in this season of unemployment is what I will actually do for employment upon arriving at school in the fall. Thinking about this has been a rather depressing endeavor... and not primarily because of the fact that no longer having a full time job necessitates that I eat out less and drink far less diet coke.
It has rather been depressing because no matter what options I seem to toss out there, they are only met with lots of snickers, laughs, and "Haha, Caroline. Are you serious? You really think you could do that?"
Seriously, no encouragement coming from anywhere. Anywhere!!!
To "waitress" my friends just awkwardly looked around the table and laughed. And after they all took a pole, it was clear that even those who love me most don't think I am coordinated to carry a tray full of food.
To "bar-tender" my family sneered and said that I probably need to know what alcohol is what and what goes in mixed drinks. I mean, I know vanilla goes in Diet Coke. What else do I really need to know?
"Starbucks Barista" got a good laugh to. Apparently no one finds me capable of mixing a half-caf, extra hot, soy, extra sugar, no whip some-thing-or-other in a blender. And apparently, no one thinks I could really make it work anytime before 9 am...
I suggested "bank-teller" but my accountant brother seems to think that maybe being able to balance your own bank-account should be a pre-requisite for helping other people balance theirs.
And the best option out there... UPS. Why not? Reputable company, great benefits. Well, my friends have told me why not.... "Caroline", they say, "there is absolutely no way anyone would actually pay YOU to drive a truck." Seriously, I have only been in 3 wrecks... and who cares that they were all my fault, and 2 of them did not involve another car! I'm sure I could handle the truck.
My high school girls have said that I absolutely cannot do that job, not because of the driving, but because they didn't quite think I could pull off that beauty of a uniform. Seriously, I have been working out and I really think the brown would complement my skin tone and my eyes!!
They did say however that if for some crazy reason, UPS did hire me...to please send them a pic of me and my truck and my uniform. Do you think its so they could laugh at me? I'm sure its not!
Anyways, clearly in the eyes of those I know and love the most, I am absolutely unqualified for absolutely everything. If you have any thoughts as to what I might do to earn a little cash-flow next year, let me know!
Otherwise, I think UPS might be the best option..and if you're lucky, I may just show up at your doorstep with a package sometime soon!
