I didn't mean to?!?!

Tonight I was reminded of a fun story that I think you will all enjoy:

Ok, I have been taking some of my high school girls for the past year or so over to a local ministry that provides temporary housing for women and their children. We usually help serve dinner, but for a while were in charge of putting on the "children's chapel" in which we were supposed to teach Scripture to 20-35 children ages 2-16 right after dinner! Needless to say, I have never felt more out of control in my life!

Well, one such nigh we decided to teach the creation account and to help the kids understand, we decided for them to make a mural to illustrate each day. And so, with a table full of various crayons and markers they drew pictures representing each day... light/suns/even light bulbs for day 1, trees and flowers for day 3, people and various kinds of animals for day 6.

Day 7, in my mind presented quite a predicament. How do you illustrate God resting? The answer however was obvious to the kids. Duh...beds.

So they illustrated the mural with beds. Harmless right?

Well, not so much. While glancing over the day 7 mural, one of my girls noticed that the student she was working with had added a little something extra. (This little boy was around 8 or 9...we'll call him J.)  Next to one of the  beds, J. had written "I want to have sex with her."

Well ok, my high school girl is freaked out and I TOTALLY don't know what to do. But I decide that I need to confront J. on this matter.  The following is our conversation.

" J, did you write this?"

"No."

"J, seriously, did you write this?"

"No, I promise."

"J, I know that you wrote this."

Then J, in the sweetest but guiltiest little voice says...

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to write it. I meant to write JESUS!!"

:) You see he knew the right "church" answer all along. It was just his crayon that got confused!!
